INTRODUCTION to Build A Model Sanctuary

Why do it?
The structure and furniture of the sanctuary and the service surrounding it occupy more room in the Bible than anything else. Details are given over and over. There is a reason. The sanctuary illustrates some profound Biblical truths. In a nutshell, among the most profound of those truths is that God:

-has saved us from the condemnation of sin
-is saving us from the power of sin
-will save us from the presence of sin

A Better Way to Learn
God clearly understood that we learn better when we can use more of our senses. The Old Testament sanctuary was seen, heard, touched, smelled and even tasted. Like us, kids learn much more effectively when they can at least touch, see and hear, as opposed to just hearing. Pictures are usedful, but as effective as having a 3-dimensional object in hand.

Build a Model Sanctuary is not an end to itself. Students must be instructed as to the point of it all. That's the reason I have also developed "God's Show and Tell," illistrated lesson studies desighned to help youth understand how God uses the sanctuary to teach us about salvation. Don't neglect the teaching aspect of this project, otherwise the kids are just taking and arts and crafts class.
